中华人民共和国政府和巴哈马国政府关于巴哈马国在中华人民共和国香港特别行政区保留名誉领事馆的协定

中华人民共和国政府和巴哈马国政府（以下简称“双方”），本着发展两国之间友好关系和加强两国之间领事关系的共同愿望，就巴哈马国在中华人民共和国香港特别行政区保留领事馆事达成协议如下：

一、中华人民共和国政府同意巴哈马国政府在中华人民共和国香港特别行政区保留名誉领事馆，领区为香港特别行政区。

二、中华人民共和国政府应根据一九六三年四月二十四日《维也纳领事关系公约》和中华人民共和国有关法律和规定，为巴哈马国驻香港特别行政区名誉领事馆及其领事官员执行领事职务提供必要的协助和便利。

三、双方应本着协商合作的精神，根据国际法和国际惯例，友好地处理两国间的领事事务。

四、本协定自一九九七年七月一日起生效。

本协定于一九九七年六月二十三日在纽约签订，一式两份，每份都用中文和英文写成，两种文本同等作准。

AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE"S REPUBLIC OF CHINAAND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS CONCERNING THEMAINTENANCE OF THE CONSULAR POST HEADED BY AN HONORARY CONSUL OF THECOMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS IN THE HONG KONG SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGIONOF THE PEOPLE"S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

The Government of the People"s Republic of China and the Government ofthe Commonwealth of The Bahamas (hereinafter referred to as the twoParties), out of the common desire to develop friendly relations andenhance consular ties between the two countries, have reached thefollowing agreement concerning the maintenance of the consular post headedby an honorary consul of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in the Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region of the People"s Republic of China:

1. The Government of the People"s Republic of China agrees to themaintenance by the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas of itsconsular post headed by an honorary consul in the Hong Kong SpecialAdministrative Region of the People"s Republic of China, the consulardistrict of which shall be the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

2. The Government of the People"s Republic of China shall, inaccordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 24 April1963 and relevant laws and regulations of the People"s Republic of China,accord necessary assistance and facilities to the consular post headed byan honorary consul of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and its consularofficers in the exercise of consular functions.

3. The two Parties shall handle consular matters between them in afriendly manner in the spirit of consultation and cooperation, and inaccordance with international law and practice.

4. The present Agreement shall enter into force on 1 July 1997.

Done in New York on 23 June, 1997 in duplicate in the Chinese andEnglish languages, both texts being equally authentic.
