XIAO BEI- Little Africa in Guangzhou
On a website affiliated with Guangzhou Daily. It was reported that Guangzhou has Asia's largest African community(200,000 people), the website reported that the annual increase in the number of Feizhou ren(非洲人) in Guangzhou had recently risen from 30% to 40% per year. It also estimated that Africans make up 2% of households in Guangzhou.
In 2009, China became Africa's largest trading partner after displacing the US, when trade nearly double since 2006, Though trade has dipped since the global financial crisis, once third of China' oil supplies come from Angola. Though China's trade relationship raised eyebrows as post-colonial (some trade deals involving aid,loans,infrastructure building) in 2000, China cancelled $10 billion in debt of African countries.
